TGIF!

List Five Places You'd Like To Visit:

1. Pyramids
2. Stonehenge
3. Machu Picchu
4. Greece
5. Hawaii

Hawaii seems bleh in comparison but I suppose it's been so common that I should at least list it as a place to visit myself one day. hehe.

 Selling a 99¢ ring for $50! (Permalink)
One of the things that surprises me on Ebay is that a good story can make a piece of junk be sold for a lot of money. Most of them are about genies and djinns that are trapped in little junk like earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, bottles, chests, coins, etc.

Usual Formula:
BLUE GEM Start off with a personal story of how you got the object - It must be awesome. Someone stopped you and pushed it into your hands or someone died and your name was in their will for some odd reason, etc.

BLUE GEM Explain how you did research and found the name of the Genie/Djinn and make a huge story of what they were responsible for. Keep reiterating that their story is lost to the dust of time so no matter what your bidders do, they'll never find the information no matter how hard they search.

BLUE GEM Take pictures of said objects with a decorative surrounding. Some good examples: lay it on a big crystal cluster, dangle it off the handle of a sword, etc... Warp the images with a paint program. Make it glow, add wisps and smoke. Be creative!

BLUE GEM Decorate the ebay lot with lots of flashy backgrounds and images. You want to distract the bidders from reading the endless text because somewhere in there, you have to make the claim that this is purely for 'entertainment purposes' without ruining the overall mysteriousness that you're trying to create over the object.

BLUE GEM Don't forget to say that the Djinn/Genie is guaranteed to grant all wishes! Keep saying it every three lines or so.

And that should turn your 99¢ junk into $50 profits.

A Page from Gem's Book: Love Potion (Permalink)
Topic: Spells & Potions
(I'm having a bout of creativity at the moment. I'm not sure if I'd make another one in the future but I had fun writing this one up in a jiffy.)

Naturally, you need ingredients that are disgusting and foul in order to have an opposite reaction after you or your subject drinks it. You know how in dreams, if your arms and legs get cut off and you get blinded by forks, It means a great windfall of cash is coming your way? No? Well, hey...

I will start with one of the most sought after universal emotions. Love.

LOVE POTION

BLUE GEM DRAGON TONGUE
GREEN GEM Must be fresh as possible! Still coated with original saliva of said dragon.
BLUE GEM TROLL SPIT
GREEN GEM Approach only when they're sleeping. Four cups of this will do!
BLUE GEM MERMAID HAIR
GREEN GEM Grab a good chunk out of her head. A strand will not do.
BLUE GEM CENTAUR TAIL
GREEN GEM Remove bones first.
BLUE GEM SATYR HORN
GREEN GEM Get 'im really drunk and cut one off. Ground it to a powder form.
BLUE GEM GNOME TEARS
GREEN GEM Say something bad about their mothers or step on their favorite mushrooms. Both are quite effective methods to get tears seeing as how you'll need four cups of these.
BLUE GEM DJINN TOOTH
GREEN GEM If you somehow survive this, make a wish on the tooth first to prevent Djinn from seeking revenge. Ground tooth to powder form.

Get a good fire going.

In one bowl, mix Gnome Tears with Satyr Horn. Set aside.

In separate bowl, mix Troll Spit with Djinn Tooth. Set aside.

Pour Tear/Horn mixture in pot and bring to boil. Add Mermaid Hair. Boil five more minutes and set pot aside to cool.

In another pot, pour in Spit/Tooth mix and bring to boil. Add Centaur Tail. Boil five more minutes.

While boiling Spit/Tooth mix, pour Tear/Horn mixture into one tall neck bottle. When done with Spit/Tooth mix, pour into same tall neck bottle while hot!

IMPORTANT! Add Dragon Tongue but cork bottle fast! Reaction to tongue will be quick and explosive. You must cork the bottle and keep it in place for dear life!

If successful in containing the explosive reaction, wait until the potion turns bright red. If potion turns orange, it has failed and must be disposed of. Average waiting time for one love potion is approximately three weeks. If mixed under full moon, waiting time is reduced to five days.

The Castle Personality Test

You have no problem diving into new experiences. You're so brave that you don't even notice how courageous you are.

You like to think that people see you as dramatic and fascinating. You do your best to seem mysterious.

You are a very romantic person. You can't help but see the world as it should be.

Right now, stress occasionally makes you feel trapped in your life. You usually have a clear perspective on things though!

Overall, your life is calm and steady. Not much stirs you, and each day is full of joy.

You are extremely optimistic about the future. You feel like things are always getting better.

 Digital Cameras and Genealogy (Permalink)
You know, I take hundreds of pictures with my digital camera but I never print any of them out. I load the images into a paint program, crop, resize, and upload them to some site to post them somewhere. They end up getting transferred to my disks and then tossed aside.

I know genealogy is a big thing. People like having photographs that they can hold in their hands. I wonder if this period of the 'digital camera' craze may end up bringing a huge gap in family photos for several generations down the road.

But what do I know... I don't have any photographs of my ancestors. Terribly frustrating!

If I had a super power... (Permalink)
Topic: Miscellaneous
Okay, I know. I'm really grasping at straws here but I am terrible at trying to update this blog daily. Sort of a personal challenge I've set for myself to see if I can't blog every day for the month of November. Anyhow, on with the topic...

If I had a super power, I would have the power to change my body at will. I know one thing would be to use it for evil - rob a bank with one look and then walk away scot-free with a new look. I don't know. I just think it'd be neat. I guess this might be 'shapeshifter' but they seem to be labeled for beings that change to animal form. I'm not quite sure...

But there you have it. My one super power that I desire.

Say Hi To My Friends

You know there's too much junk in the house when you have plushes staring up at you from a rocking chair in the dining room. *chuckles* Actually, My half-brother won these at the county fair and they've been sitting in the rocking chair ever since just to amuse my little nephew when my sister visits.

Every time I look at them, I keep thinking, "They must be made for the floor with how high they look up." Anyhow, Say hi to my friends. image

When my soul opened up to music... (Permalink)
Topic: Miscellaneous

For the first half of my life, I couldn't relate to music at all. Every Christmas my siblings would get huge stereos, cassette players, cd changers, etc. My face would turn green with envy when I watched them tear away the wrapping paper and get something big and fantastic!

One Christmas around the time that I was twelve, I had had enough. I threw a fit...

"How come I never get a stereo?! Why does everyone else get one?!"

My mother stopped me in my tracks with just one question.

"What do you listen to?"

"I... ... ... ... don't know." Just like that, in that one second, the ugly green beast let out a dying roar as he dissipated into nothingness. I don't listen to music. It's strange how it takes one question to end something that's been building up for years. With that thought, I packed away 'music' as something that would never touch my soul. Years would pass...

Until AQUA's "Barbie Girl". I remember there was a huge deal about AQUA being sued because of their song. It was everywhere! I took the time to listen to the song to find out what the big deal was. I found myself... oddly... enjoying it. The beats, the vocals, the peppiness. I was compelled enough that I bought the album to hear what the rest of the songs were like. I think I still have the album somewhere...

That's what put me on the path to discover Dance/Electronica/Trance/Etc. I can't explain it... The beats, the vocals, the... I don't know... It was like music had finally found a hidden entrance to enter my soul and make me feel alive! - If I could be cheesy for a moment. hehe.

I still remember the surprised look on my parents' face when I asked for a cd player for Christmas. They were hesitant but finally went ahead and bought me my very first stereo with a 5 cd changer on top. Needless to say, I played so much music on that thing that it broke in less than a year...

I guess I'll take this moment to say... Thanks AQUA. image

 Pink Thanksgiving Cactus (Permalink)

A picture of my pink Thanksgiving Cactus.

This site is absolutely awesome in telling you how to tell what kind yours is. As you can tell in the photo, the pointed leaves indicate that this is of a Thanksgiving Cactus even though they're mostly marketed as Christmas Cactus. To get your hands on an actual Christmas Cactus may be tough as you have to rely on friends or family who have had a plant that is decades old before it was all hybridized to the current plants sold in stores today.

 You are... Blue Dragon! (Permalink)
Topic: Quizzes

I've been trying to think about what to blog for today. I found a neat little widget for Presidental Results but unfortunately it doesn't work in this blog. I suppose something non-election might be better to blog about though. It's been hashed to heck and back anyhow... hehe. I'll take a lighter route and post a quiz result instead, which surprises me that it matches a dragon color that I like. That rarely happens.

What Dragon Spirit Resides In You?

image

Blue Dragon. You have the spirit of a Blue Dragon, you are in simple words unsure. You know you can do things, but do not apply yourself. You often hang out with friends, or other people, but go along with whatever they do. You don't like to interfere, you fear your abilities. You feel alone, but feel it's better that way.You at times feel at war within yourself, you see your problem, but feel surround by your own layers to do anything about it. You are very loyal to your friends, most of them you have never met (internet friends, games, etc.) And have a love for art, helps you through tough times and lets you express yourself, where words fail.
