Geez, is it already 2018? Hard to believe that I created this webpage during the chat and personal homepage craze back then. These days it's all social media!

I'm surprised Tripod is still going when other sites have shut down. I don't know. I'm impressed.

I thought I'd have something more impressive to say for a 20th anniversary...

Looks like I missed the anniversary by two days.

 1998 - 2013

15 years. 15 years. And this site is still sitting around in some shape or form even though no one visits it anymore.

I'm also surprised this blog feature hasn't been shut down. It seems everything else is gone, even the HTMLgear guestbook I used to have.

Ah, well. Here's to 15 more years...

 Yuku Profile Craziness (Permalink)
Mood:  not sure
Topic: Miscellaneous

I think I will be copying over blog posts from my Yuku profile. Yuku is working on a new profile format and I guess it has changed things because the spaces between my "Blue Green Gem" username is now forced. It gave me a mild heart attack when it kept telling me my username didn't exist. Now I'll have to form a habit where I type my username with spaces instead of as one word.

This allowed me to register "BlueGreenGem" when I discovered that. Very weird. Yuku says that everything will be copied over when the time comes but I think I'll just copy some of the posts over to this blog just to be on the safe side.

I wonder why spaces are forced now. Seems very wonky right now so we'll see how it goes.

As it stands right now, This is my Yuku Profile: Blue Green Gem
This is the new username and has been converted: BlueGreenGem

The converted profile is very confusing to work with. Hopefully it gets smoothed out before they force it on all of us.

A friend and I have been stomping all through the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. We glanced at tons and tons of old sites. I think one that I found the most interesting was this 1996 cached version of Geocities! Area 51 Neighborhood. I came along in 1997 so I recall this 1998 cached version of Area 51. Man, brings back memories...

 Roleplaying in Geocities Chat (Permalink)
Topic: Miscellaneous
You know, once every three or four blue moons, I'll catch myself missing the old days of when I first got on the internet in 1997 when it was all so new, bright, and exciting. All that surfing for the search to find an awesome chatroom. I remember the very first chat I entered too. ( ) However, the most awesome chat was Area 51 at Geocities chat. I did a lot of roleplaying there. It was a cycle there. Groups would disband and move on, then a new group would form with a bunch of new players. I was there for several of them. The messenger of choice was ICQ. Everyone had personal homepages at Geocities... except for me. I went to Tripod because of one roleplayer.

Now it's all blogs and social networking. The internet isn't bright and awesome as it was but I guess when you get older, it seems like everything is coming to an end while the kids today are finding it all new, bright, and awesome. ;)

 Has spring come? (Permalink)
Topic: Miscellaneous
Is spring here? I guess so! hehe. Yesterday I took all the plants out of the greenhouse but... eh... I expect half of them to die. It's frustrating to forget to run the heater during some frozen nights. I was surprised at the snow that fell several times in the past few months! We don't get snow here. At all... if ever.

I'm just hoping I haven't lost any jade plants. It's part of why I tend to grow clippings even though I have little to no space for them. Some of the jade plants continue to shrivel away and don't show any signs of growing new leaves. I guess it's just a waiting game to see how many are still sticking around or eeked out a final 'goodbye cruel world!'.

Whew. Lots of trial and error and I'm still not done yet. It's been fun to see how far I can take this blog with customization and whatnot. I'm still not sure I'd update this blog but eh... At least it's around.

Testing image upload....

I wish I knew who made that ''dragon flaming knight'' image. It sat around on my zipdisks forever...

 Last Day... (Permalink)

Last day of the month and most likely my final blog post for awhile. At least I posted something every day of the month. hehe. Now I'm gonna go wander off and find something to eat.

 Painted Wizard (Permalink)
Topic: Miscellaneous

I was asked about the image I used as a card for the Yuku Blog Ring.

It's some sort of fabric-like thing glued to a cardboard. I can't remember who bought it for me but basically you dipped the paintbrush in some colored water and touch it to the fabric. The paint would spread. Sometimes if you put too much, the color would darken. Some of my 'darkening' attempts for shading caused it to spill over the lines so there's some goofs if you look hard.
